Celebrating, Reading, Connecting, and Sharing Queer Stories

Join us for a party celebrating reading and books, sponsored by Books Not Bans with City Lights and Litquake. Queer stories liberate us all! We love our allies and want you with us.
Here we will explore queer poetic works together in guided activities. We will write poetry together, too. Have your truths revealed through great literary works by our bibliomancer. Finally, experience great queer works by local authors.
This event will take place in Kerouac Alley, between City Lights Bookstore and Vesuvio Cafe. It is free to the public.
Featuring:
Community poetry writing with Kevin Dublin
Poetry friending with Sean Owens
Bibliomancy by Scott Sessions
Author readings by:
• Sumiko Saulson
• Kevin Dublin
• Shoshana Von Blackensee
• Syr Becker
• Billy Gong
Hosted by Sean Owens
Books Not Bans is a tiny org that sends books by and about LGBT people to grassroots orgs around America. We’ve sent over 3500 book in just three years. Follow us on the ‘gram at @booksnotbans.
Books Not Bans donates books to queer orgs, and throws literature-themed parties.

Join us for Fancy Dress Poetry Club on August 20, where we will read poems by Audre Lorde together. Tickets here. Your ticket includes a book of poetry.   3600 books donated since April 2023. As seen in the LA Times, Guardian UK  and Asahi Shimbun. For a list of our past events click here.
We are fiscally sponsored by Independent Arts and Media Foundation (EIN 94-3355076) , a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
This event made possible by support from the City Lights Foundation
