Writers’ Series: June Saraceno

LTCC’s Writers’ Series welcomes poet and fiction writer June Sylvester Saraceno on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7pm in the Roberta Mason Library on LTCC’s campus. She’ll read selections from her works, answer audience questions, and sign copies of her first novel, “Feral, North Carolina, 1965,” published in Fall 2019 by Southern Fried Karma Press. This is a free event, and all are welcome!
Saraceno’s third full-length collection of poetry, The Girl From Yesterday, will be released in 2020 by Cherry Grove Collections. Previous poetry books include of Dirt and Tar, Cherry Grove Press, 2014; Altars of Ordinary Light, Plain View Press, 2007, and a chapbook of prose poems, Mean Girl Trips, Pudding House Press, 2006.
Her work, both poetry and fiction, has appeared widely in journals including American Journal of Nursing, Silk Road, Smartish Pace, Southwestern American Literature, Tar River Poetry, and Worcester Review. She is a contributor to several anthologies including “All We know of Pleasure: Poetic Erotica by Women,” “A Bird as Black as the Sun: California Poets on Crows and Ravens;” “Tahoe Blues;” “Cradle Songs: Poems on Motherhood;” “Intimate Kisses: the poetry of sexual pleasure” and “Passionate Hearts: the poetry of sexual love,” now in its second printing.
Saraceno received her BA in English from East Carolina University and an MFA in creative writing from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She is currently Humanities and English Department Chair at Sierra Nevada College in Incline, where she is director of the popular Writers in the Woods literary speaker series and founding editor of the “Sierra Nevada Review.”
