Writers in the Woods – Pablo Cartaya

October 15, 2021 - October 16, 2021

Pablo Cartaya is an award-winning author, speaker, educator, (and occasional actor). He is the author of the acclaimed novels: The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora, Marcus Vega Doesn’t Speak Spanish, Each Tiny Spark, and the forthcoming The Last Beekeeper. His novels have received numerous honors and starred reviews, been featured on many Best Books of the Year and state award lists, and been reviewed by the NY Times and Washington Post.

“Pablo Cartaya’s sensational debut is a love letter to boyhood, poetry, and family. Quite simply, this is the book I’ve been waiting for.”
Matt de la Peña, New York Times bestselling and Newbery Medal–winning author of The Last Stop on Market Street

Pablo has always been a hopeless romantic. In middle school he secretly loved reading Shakespeare’s sonnets (don’t tell anyone). He wrote eight (bad) poems for a girl he liked, and he’s been writing ever since. He writes stories that reflect his family, his Cuban-American cultura, and love his of words.
