Ann Goldstein: A Virtual Discussion About Translation

We are pleased to welcome Ann Goldstein, translator of Elena Ferrante’s novels, for a livestream on Wednesday, October 21st at 1:00pm Pacific Time. The event will be available to watch on our YouTube channel.

Goldstein will discuss translation, her work with Elena Ferrante and others, and her extensive career in the literary world. She has most recently translated Ferrante’s newest novel, The Lying Life of Adults. Goldstein will be joined by Michael Reynolds, Editor-in-chief of Europa Editions, and the discussion will be led by Judith Rodby.

Ann Goldstein has translated into English all of Elena Ferrante’s books, including the New York Times bestseller, The Story of the Lost Child, which was shortlisted for the MAN Booker International Prize. She has been honored with a Guggenheim Fellowship and is the recipient of the PEN Renato Poggioli Translation Award. She lives in New York.

Judith Rodby, Ph.D., Professor Emerita of English from CSU, Chico, leads our monthly book club and is a voracious reader who enjoys connecting with fellow book lovers. Judith led The National Reading Initiative for the National Writing Project and has facilitated book clubs for children, adolescents, and adults.
