who we are

Tahoe Writers Works is a group of writers, poets, and other individuals who are interested in the art of writing. We know writing is a lot of hard work but we put in the extra hours to hone our craft. In addition to our monthly meetings and writing workshops, we oversee the "Bare Bones Open Mic Night," and write and direct numerous theatre performances including the "Murder Mystery Radio Theatre." We also host "A Celebration of Writers around the Lake," and produce our literary publication, EDGE.

Tahoe Writers Works has monthly meetings and we welcome new voices. There's no obligation other than an exceptional love of the written word. Our next meeting will be on May 29, 6:30 at Bona Fide Books (click here for directions.)

It's time to clock in, and get to work.

celebrating our fifth volume of EDGE!

What a long, strange trip it's been. Back in the day (2006 to be exact), Tahoe Writers Works was known as the Lake Tahoe Writing Club. Our first publication was aptly named “Writings EDGE Cover GraphicFrom the Lake Tahoe Writing Club.” The club had been using a Hunter S. Thompson quote for promotional efforts, and we felt as though his words resonated the personality of our eclectic group of writers.

“The Edge...there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.”

When we decided to put together a second edition and broaden our submission process, the goal was to seek writers, poets, and artists who took chances and might be a little too “over the edge” to be considered by other literary publications. We wanted to be different, and not follow the formulas and themes of other magazines. We aptly named our lit pub, "EDGE."
